My 10 year old dog has suddenly gone deaf after being given Osurnia. She was healthy and had no hearing issues whatsoever. She was super alert and could hear a nail drop. Ever since the  Osurnia was given at the vet, she has gone completely deaf. We went from a little ear infection to deaf in a matter of minutes after this treatment. Vet says it’s possible with older dogs and may or may not return. We’re praying for her hearing to come back. Has this happened to anyone and what was the outcome?

Hello - it sounds as if you suspect an adverse reaction to the administration of a drug.  I haven't had this one happen that I can remember, but if your vet agrees that the drug is likely to have been the cause, then usually a good move would be to report this to the drugs manufacturers.   Manufacturers record problems that are reported to them, as there may be things to learn - and, particularly if this is recurring, so that they can be sure to declare potential side effects properly on their data sheet.  I suspect that every case is different, but if the drug company follow up on suspected adverse effects that are reported to them, they may be able to give you better information than I can regarding what is likely to happen next.  I hope that something there is useful.

I wanted to say that my dog also went deaf after using Osurnia and am hoping this is temporary. So far it's been 3 weeks.  She went from being perfectly fine with her hearing to not hearing a thing including snapping my fingers behind her head, clapping, or ringing the doorbell (which always set her off).  Had I known this was a side effect before the doctor administered it, I would have never agreed to it.
