Hello Vets
Looking for advice. (He seems to be limping more today as compare to other days)
My 7 year old husky had a front left leg injury 17 days ago. I took him to the vet same day and below is what they said after doing the xrays. I have attached the xray for your reference.
Front limbs:
The left elbow and antebrachium are normal. Mineral opacity bodies are visible medial to the left carpus. Mild soft tissue swelling is seen associated
with the area. Mineral opacity bodies associated with the medial collateral ligament of the left carpus, differential diagnosis: This may represent an avulsion
fracture of the medial collateral ligament, but chronic enthesophytosis of the medial collateral ligament is also possible.
There is a short, oblique fracture of the first left metacarpal bone. The fracture gap is slightly wide.
They asked me to put on a therapaw brace when taking him out and said it should heal by itself. He doesn't seem to be in pain anymore but he is still limping and slightly extends his front left paw when putting weight on it. It also has little bit of swelling I think it might be because I left the brace on too long.
I am looking for an opinion if anything I should or shouldn't be doing during his healing process. Also do I need to worry about his limp. It's been 17 days and he is still limping. Will he require surgery?
Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
