My dog has corneal edema and has I have been advised by my vet to treat with 5% sodium chloride eye drops but despite lots of patience and trying different methods to apply the drops it is almost impossible to get the drops in his eyes and the more I try the more stressed he gets until I have to eventually give up. If anyone has any tips I would greatly appreciate them as my dog is almost blind and the drops should help him regain vision.

Hello!  My main tip for when a vet gives you eye drops for your dog, is to ask them to show you how to put them in.  This gives you a good idea of how easy (or not) it is and how best to hold them.   My method would be to recruit another grown-up who holds the dogs' muzzle and to ask them to tip the dog's nose up in the air (vertically), then put the drops on the base of the eyelashes.   Eventually, the dog will open their eyes and the drops will run in.    However, it can be very distressing putting eye-drops into a pets' eyes.  Some dogs will need a muzzle and all dogs will need lots of love and reassurance.   As ever, your vet or nurse is always the best source of practical help.
