Dogs Eye Mass - help!

Hi, my 2 year old King Charles X Springer Spaniel cross breed was recently seen by our local vet around 3 weeks ago as she had a little pink mass growing on her eyelid. The vet had advised he was unsure what exactly it was, but was happy to leave it be. However, over the past week it has become much larger and much more pigmented in colour. Anyone any idea what this may be? And if so, how to treat it? I am very worried about her. Thanks so much for any help that can be offered. Photo Note: The first photo below (dated 23:01:23) was when the vet had seen her and the other 2 photos were from 05/02/23.

Hi - I can understand why your vet opted to leave that small lesion well alone at the time.  It look like an inflamed follicle and most inflamed follicles resolve on their own - although more than previously thought could be down to demodex - which, as close to the eye as that, would be hard to treat with shampoo but might be covered by certain antiparasiticides that many pups use routinely.

However, this is clearly one of the very few cases looking like that that hasn't resolved - indeed, it is growing.  I wonder if it is some kind of immune / autoimmune reaction in the follicle, or a neoplastic lesion such as a histiocytoma, or something else.  This having become apparent, it is time to present the issue again in case a biopsy turns out to be appropriate.

Thank you Liz. After your advice I called my Vet and they seen her right away. My wee dog is now booked in tomorrow morning at 8am for a removal which will then be sent for a biopsy. Will update thread with outcome - I have everything crossed it’s nothing sinister. Thanks again for your advice.

My senior dog has developed the same thing, but above his eyelid and was told that we would need to get it surgically removed as well. Hoping all went well with your furbaby, and anxious to hear how the surgery went!

Hi, just wanted to update with the final outcome. The eyelid mass was surgically removed at my local vets on 09/02/23. My pup is now recovering well and will have her stitches removed in 3 days time - she will be very glad to have the cone removed. My Vet rang yesterday to confirm the mass was a benign tumour. So very glad it was removed! My vet has stated he thinks there should be no further issues as the single mass has been completely removed. Thanks for your help :)
