Hello The occasional lick round the mouth / nose is normal; repeated licking of the nose until it becomes sore is not. Furthermore, if surface layers are coming away or the nose is becoming cracked, this can cause pain and predispose to infection - and more licking! There is a 'chicken and egg' situation implicit in this: is the nose sore because it is consistently licked, or is the nose being licked because it is sore? As you can imagine, it is something that can become a cycle. Sometimes a barrier cream can be helpful to protect the nose; other times antibiotics, anti-yeast, anti-fungal (e.g. in ringworm) or some much stronger anti-inflammatory (e.g. in steroid in autoimmune diseases) may be needed. However, a good place to start would be to show the nose to the vets in order to find what's going on with this individual at the moment and to establish what they recommend from here.
*comment* not *common.* With apologies. The most important comment I made was the one about having your own vet check this out and give advice specific to the patient.
A hot, dry nose doesn't always mean trouble, but it can certainly be a sign of fever, dehydration, or even conditions like dry eye. If your dog's dry nose is accompanied by other symptoms, like lethargy, vomiting or diarrhea, or changes in activity or appetite, contact your veterinarian for advice.
Presently I am using Dry nose balm from Puppington, this Balm is quite good. Rest of the information whether my dog is fine or not, I will tell you in a few days.
