Hi! A few weeks ago, I posted about my dog being on royal canin hepatic, and my concern since the bag says that it should be fed for no longer than 6 months initially, and he has already been on it for a year. I took my dog to the vet this Monday, and they ran exams to see his hepatic function. Thankfully the vet said that he is in great shape and healthy mentioning that I could change his food to a senior formula, preferably since he is already a 12-year-old chihuahua. Do you have a recommendation for a good senior formula? My vet suggested keeping him on the royal canin senior, hills senior, or Purina Senior. But I would like to know if there is any other high quality brand with grains formula to avoid all the drama under those companies. Could Acana small breed wholesome grains be a good alternative?  Or any other one? Mostly looking for foods with grains because Runy has also been to the cardiologist and was advised to stay away from grain free diets. Thank you!

I think that your vet is much better placed to advise you here!  The more someone knows about your dog, the better they can comment on the brands of food that may be appropriate and to be honest, your vet is much better placed to advise you on this one!   Best of luck, whatever you choose.
