Hi everyone, My senior dog has been feeling more anxious lately, especially during storms and car rides. I’ve been reading up on natural remedies and came across CBD for dogs as a possible option. I found this collection from InnovetPet: https://www.innovetpet.com/collections/treats-and-chews Has anyone here tried CBD treats or chews with their dogs? Did you notice any difference in their behavior or overall comfort? I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences before I give it a try. Thanks in advance!

Thank you for this interesting question and please find below a relevant article written by Vet Help Direct. https://vethelpdirect.com/vetblog/2024/04/16/cannabis-for-pets-ongoing-controversy/ (search for Cannabis or CBD in the blog search). When most people and animals and people show signs of anxiety, it tends to be a reaction to the situation that they are or have been in.  I am still of the opinion that addressing the environment to suit an animal's needs is better than medicating them in order that they can cope with an environment that is beyond them.  Sometimes work can also be done in order to reduce your dogs' anxiety around certain situations. Your vet should be able to put you in the correct direction of behavioural advice more directly relevant to your pets' situation.

In realistic terms, a combination of environmental manipulation,  behavioural work and proven pharmacological treatment relevant to the situation can be helpful.
