Hello, I took my dog on the field yesterday. When we returned home I realised her eyes to be red and she was squinting. I think she might be suffering from hayfever. Please can you advise me if there is anything I can giver her. I have already showered her and put eye lubricant in her eyes thank you

Hello - I suppose that it could be hay-fever (or grass allergy), but I have more pressing concerns:  foreign-bodies (typically grass-seeds) and ulcers.  Vets often say that 'all eyes are emergencies' - because ulcers and foreign bodies present as red / watery eyes and might cause serious damage to the eye and thereby altered vision.  A full list of possibilities might also include dry eye (Keratoconjunctivitis sicca), uveitis, glaucoma, foreign body or particulate matter, infectious conjunctivitis, cancer, in-growing eyelashes and third eyelid protrusion.  For this reason, we would strongly recommend seeing a vet a soon as a red eye is identified and before treatment is recommended.  I have worked for emergency vets and 'red eye' was generally on their 'must see now' lists.   Hayfever treatment should not be tried until the more serious conditions have been ruled out.
