My baby passed away on Thursday
She had to be put to sleep as she was unwell , started with bloody diarhoea and lethargy , stopped eating for 4 days, 3 days on fluids and no improvement , vet said there was a mass in her abdomen. I cannot see anything , I can see her organs are in weird places?
Hello and I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. For me, looking at a small copy of the radiograph on a screen, I cannot diagnose the problem. But of course, your vet had more information than me. They had the whole radiograph in real size on a large screen or light box and could feel inside the abdomen from the outside; they might also have been able to see more information eg a recent bleed on the bloods. If the patient was asleep for x-ray, they might have had a feel of the abdomen with the patient unconscious at the time of taking the image. Good questions to ask them include; how did you know that there was a mass? Where is its outline on the x-ray? Would a radiographic specialist confirm this? - as a normal GP vet I am in no position to challenge the opinion of the vet who was there and could actually take a full history and examine the patient -you cannot expect an appropriate second opinion from me. However, its important that you have the answers you need to.move on, and you can ask your vet to send the radiograph AND medical history for a formal second opinion.
