How do I get rid of the mites on my guineapig. I don’t have a whole lot of money. 80BFB09A-AF35-4C6E-B91C-A1D3673A298F

Hello! Unfortunately there are mite treatments and mite treatments.  Some (wait for it ... ) mite work, but some definitely will.  It is better value for money to pick one of the scientifically proven products  up in the first place. If a vet, pharmacist or nurse prescribes your treatment, you will get a product that is proven to work if used correctly, so I would always advise starting by calling your vets.

The other question is, where have the mites come from?  Most guinea-pigs might carry one or two mites but if they flare up suddenly, particularly in one guinea-pig, it is often because their immunity might have taken a bit of a dive.  It therefore may pay to have the guinea-pig checked over anyway.  A surge in mites, for example, is a good time to have their teeth etc checked. If a vet appointment is really not an option, the practice nurse may do parasite checks - but always ask how this works as far as charges are concerned in advance.

I should clarify 'definitely will' as no product is always 100 per cent effective.  However, licensed veterinary products do have a proven track record, which not all products do.  This may depend on living conditions, underlying diseases etc which your vet team can help you with.  Best of luck.
