My vet and I are trying to figure out why my 21-yr-old cat is going back and forth between eyes fully dilated/almost blind to eyes normal/seeing fine. For the last few days it's been 90% blind. She measured his BP and got about 165, and he's been on amlopidine for three days with no change so far. Also his right pupil is just barely larger than his left. Otherwise he is in excellent health. I've been trying to think of what has changed, wondering if the very large pinch of bonito flakes I just started giving him could be contributing in any way. It's pure bonito, no salt added, but fish is salty - is there any possibility? I'm not in a position to take him to a specialist right now (finances). Thanks so much!
