I was petting my 10 year old husky's head today when I felt something hard so I moved his fur around until I came across this small lump. I was hoping someone could help me identify what it could be and if I should try calling his vet on Monday since they dont open weekends

Hi, I'm not a vet but just another person with a 10 year old dog. I've found lumps and bumps on my dog for the last several years. Some are liomas and others are plain old warts. Our vet said it is very common on older dogs and more common on certain breeds. Fortunately most are benign and harmless but should still be looked at by a vet. I know finding a lump can be stressful but don't worry until your dog is seen by a vet. There is a very good chance it's nothing serious. Forgot to mention if you post a picture of the lump a vet on this forum may be able to give you more insight on what it is.

Hello and thank you for the picture.  I'd like to think that this particular lump could be a Papilloma or viral wart; you can read more about them in our blog.  However sometimes lumps can be more sinister (e.g. cancerous) than they appear and sometimes viral warts appear at times of immunocompromise (i.e. they hint at a hidden, underlying concern or illness), so every lump should be assessed within the context of the situation and the rest of the patient. Please do, therefore, take advice from your vet.
