I'm sorry to hear about your dogs' eye.
- This could be a skin lump, benign or cancerous; however, I am not sure why it is making him blind in this case, unless it is physically getting in the way or pushing on the eye's surface.
- It could be a stye, abscess or similar
- It could originate in the tear-duct. There is a relatively new worm, called Thelazia, most common in but not limited to imported dogs, that can block the tear-duct and cause a lump.
- It could be what's known as a 'cherry eye'; dogs have a red, wet, third eyelid that runs from the inner corner (deeper than the two more familiar eyelids). This moist, red eyelid contains a lump of glandular tissue and in some dogs, the third eyelid slips out of place and the gland prevents it from sliding back into the corner; this often presents as a a pink lump at the inner corner of the eye. In this case, the abnormal gland can lead to the eye becoming too dry and even to blindness - so it should be well managed.
I'm sure that there are also plenty other possibilities. I don't know how long it has been there, but with any new eye problem, we'd would recommend that you speak to your emergency vet for the case to be triaged.
