Hi. Just need a bit of advice please.
My 9 yr old bulldog cross pug has a lump by her anus. It started small but now has got bigger. She drags her bum across the floor multiple times a day and lately she's constantly looking behind at her bum.
I just didn't know what it is or could be.
Thank you
Hello - it sounds as though your dog is sore and rubbing her bottom. The skin around the anus is very delicate and can sometimes suffer secondary effects in these cases. There are a range of possibilities including anal gland disease and internal discomfort; given the discomfort that you describe, an appointment sounds to be a good idea. Your vet may triage the situation for an early appointment if your dog seems likely to make herself sore.
Thank you. I forgot to attach a photo.
she wont let anyone go near it. And it makes her uncomfortable. She doesn't eat her food, she sleeps a lot more than usual.
Thank you - good picture. They are all very good reasons to see your vet. Even appropriate pain releif may make a huge difference, but it looks as though it may be important to find out what that lump is. (Big list of differentials for lumps in that area, depending on the lump may also include Tumour? Abscess? Perinneal hernia? Etc. Etc )
