Hello - there is a relatively serious disease that you may want your vet to rule out in this case, called Alabama Rot.   Therefore it would be a good idea to ask for the case to be triaged (assessed as to the urgency as soon as possible).   There are also a number of other possibilities, including a foreign body such as a grass seed, ring-worm, abscess, tumours, snake / tick / cat bites, other trauma and allergy.  We hope that you get to the bottom of this one.
