Hello and I'm sorry that you and your cat are having a tricky time with this abscess and the drain. My first big question after reading was, where is your vet in all this? Usually after a surgery, especially where a drain has been left in place and / or things are not going to plan, they would expect to reassess / monitor the situation and change the treatment plan to adapt to the changes. Its not uncommon for animals to self-traumatise and I wonder if, for example, further pain relief may have been required. My concern is that washing the outside of a cat's lump can be sore and may not necesarily address what is happening on the inside or treat any pain / underlying / secondary issues, so we expect that it's worth going back to have things assessed as they are now, in full context, with a view to coming up with a new plan.
