Hey vets, I just thought this would be fun to get from a vet perspective. I have rescued my dog he is 90 pounds but is 2 or 3 years old but I’m trying to figure out what y’all’s opinion would be as far as what breed he looks like. What do yall think? IMG_5922IMG_6238IMG_8019

Hard to tell with these mixed breeds now a days but he is one good looking boy! We wanted to know what our mix was and did a DNA test. It cost around $70 USD with Ancestry.com who now also does dog DNA testing.

Sorry I just saw you were asking Vets for their opinion which I'm not. But still think he is great looking dog!

Hello - and thankyou for your fascinating question. In short, I don't know; it's far from obvious.  My first thought was that this dog looked like a Parson's terrier crossed with something fatter, until I read from the weight that this is a giant, which surprised me considerably!  I did some Googling and wondered about a Turkish breed known as an Akbash, which is the closest I found.  However, lab. retriever crossed with a border collie or even a Great Dane may be a possibility?  Given the size and facial colouring, I can't rule out the possibility that an American pit-bull was involved, which may be a concern because these are banned breeds in the UK, but I'd imagine not; his body-shape / conformation doesn't look like that to me.  What does your vet think, who's seen him in real life?  If you do find anything out, please will you let me know?
