It's been 9 days since his neuter and I'm anxious about his healing. We are going to see if we can get a weekend appointment, but for my peace of mind tonight, I need to know of this is heading in the right or wrong direction for healing. Thanks for any insights
Hello... Im pleased that you're taking this patient to the vets, because that's absolutely the best way to assess them - by looking and feeling. I can see the very edge of a wound here, which looks to be healing fine, but that can't be confirmed from this angle as I can see very little of it. I can also see what looks to be superficial redness (this could even be a skin reaction) plus or minus some filling of the scrotal sacs but again, this is difficult to assess without feeling and context. Your vet may prescribe / have prescribed anti-inflammatories to help with this, if the skin is swollen and no other abnormality is found. Sometimes sacs fill with fluid - this does resolve again - but herniae are possible and cant be ruled out without an examination. Please do let us know how you get on.
