Hello, is this normal poop color? My cat is healthy, 4 years old and eats Stella & Chewy freeze dried raw and their Raw Coated Kibble. He just finished antibiotics a week ago for a swollen paw pad (due to allergies) thank you! I sometimes notice his poop is dark chocolate brown   IMG_0348IMG_0349

Hello!  I take it that there's litter on these poops and that the base colour is what I'm looking at, but if thats not true, please let me know.  The normal colour for poo is a shade of brown.  The exact shade changes with the amout of protein, moisture and fibre in the poo and the speed of digestion.  Colours that are definitely abnormal are black (digested blood), white (fat), red (undigested blood ie bleeding after the small intestine), orange or yellow (can be bile), consistent green.   Different shades of brown may simply reflect what's going on in the diet.  However, always check this with your vet; daily photos for your own records, might be interesting to compare across time - may give you and your vet an idea of your cats' nornal range, and whether anything needs to be changed.  Remember that raw food probably will weild different poo from Scientifically-modified-vet-pellets.   The consistency of poo (not too hard or watery) can also be a concern.  Antibiotics do kill bacteria, which can play a part in the colouration of the poo - again, run it by your vet.  I hope that something there is helpful.
