Hi there, I would need your help with my Panther Chameleon’s tail, I am worried about it as you can see open wound, tail is weak and becoming black around the open wound. What would you suggest? What can I do to prevent falling it off or  to save it? I am sending you a photo of it. Thanks a lot in advance!

Hello!  Poor creature - I don't think panther chameleons do shed their tails I'm afraid...  and while I couldnt swear to that, I do know that this looks like a deep ulcer and not a healthy shed.  It looks extremely sore and complex to treat.  This animal needs to see a vet - preferably an exotics vet but time may be of thr essence and an everyday vet could talk through the basic options and offer either emergency treatment or euthanasia for that wound.   Could it be a bite eg from another chameleon or live prey?
