Puppy came into contact with Giardia

Hi all, I just got a new puppy today, unfortunately my other dog was diagnosed with Giardia just a few days before. Been very diligent on picking up poops but tonight the puppy may of taken a lick of the giardia dogs poo. What do I do?

Giardia, if present, is difficult to remove from the environment and pups, with their low levels of immunity, are particularly vulnerable.  Unless your house is very large and your biosecurity has been absolutely incredible, and the dogs have never met one another or used the same space, I would be surprised if that is your pup's first potential exposure. But what you wanted to know is what to do next - and I would recommend calling / visiting your vets now so that you have a plan.   Vets are generally paid not to judge and it may turn out to be lifesaving.
