Hi , my pug puppy has been losing a  patch of hair around her eye one side . She’s not itching it at all , eye isn’t effected as such but they can get blood shot and watery but before this started she had a lump above her where the vet just said it was a spot , it soon went and this has appeared. Vet haven’t  a clue right now and just said to leave it as she’s not itching it , It has and is spreading . Any ideas thanks 990E2E0D-FC63-449E-8326-A53C9E11FF3F

OK, so just to check I've got this straight: there was a lump on her eyebrow, like a spot, which then went away, but has left this patch where the hair is thinner. It's not itchy, but it does seem to be spreading now - is that right? If so, I think my inclination would be to go back to the vet and say that it's spreading, even if it's not itchy. While most causes of hair loss in dogs are itchy, there are some that aren't. Mostly, these are fairly benign - it might be, for example, that the spot (a small infection) has left some scarring under the skin, or otherwise disrupted hair growth. Alternatively, and less likely, it could be one of the parasites that causes hair loss without itchiness, like Demodex. There are other possibilities too, and if it had just appeared and not done anything, I wouldn't be concerned, but if as you say it's spreading, it might be worth a recheck to rule out parasites or other issues. Good luck!

Hello - I'd concurr with David here.  Most forms of hair-loss are itchy and sometimes hair-loss can be a direct result of rubbing that area in connection with occular or dental pain.   However common non-itchy possibilities include demoxdex mites and also Ringworm (which itches only sometimes).  Some cancers and hormonal diseases can also do this, but they are far less common.  Your vet will have tests available in order to confirm or  differentiate between these possibilities.  If its Demodex or Ringworm, these are commonly caused by low immunity and therefore can be secondary to something else.  However, low immunity may simply be a feature of mild stress at their tender age also.   I hope that you get to them bottom of this and please be aware that Ringworm, if present, could be caught by other animals or humans, in particular immunocompromised ones.
