Yesterday I noticed a red bump on my dogs lip. Today it looks kinda like when you pop a pimple, it looks like it bled some. I cleaned around it with dawn soap & warm water. I did research & they say online that it could   be canine oral papillomas but the bump doesn’t look like a wart to me. I looked inside her mouth & she doesn’t have any bumps. Anyone know what it is? How can I treat it at home? Also should I stop using the gentle leader because it looks like it rubs around that area. The first photo attached was last night & the rest are from today. Thanks in advance!

Hello!  There are two main types of 'lump,' inflammation (which includes reaction to infection) and cancerous (benign or otherwise).   Just like us, dogs sometimes get 'spots' or inflamed hair follicles, and just like us, they are most likely to happen under something like a harness strap.

However, this does not rule out anything more sinister.  Demodex mites can also cause little infected spots when immunity is low - usually over a wider area - and obviously, cancer can be a possibility.   So.....   it sounds as though bathing the area has helped, avoiding the halti strap over it may be a good thing AND showing it to the vet might be a good way foreward, especially if it doesnt continue to improve pretty fast with these measures.
