Hi vets,   My 1 Yr old20221011_18594320221011_185937 mini daschund is being treated for yeast infection in both ears, the treatment we've been given are Aurizon ear drops. She's not shaking her head as much and has improved but her ears are bright red but showing no signs of discomfort to the drops. Any ides what this may be? Happy and fine in herself.   Thanks

Hello!  It could simply be that e.g. the yeast or inflammation being treated by the drops has not completely gone yet.  Drops don't have to be uncomfortable to be helping.  Sometimes ear-flaps are red because of infection, sometimes simply because of inflammation e.g. allergy (or even systemic illness or vasodilation).  It seems likely that your vet has given instructions as to when they want to check the ear again, so we would always advise following that, unless the situation gets worse and you would like the ear to be checked sooner.

These days, it is thought that most ear disease is actually a result of skin allergy and therefore is a chronic condition (one that recurrs) and not a one-off incident.  Your vet will usually tell you if they know that to be the case.
