Hi! My Dachshund (3.5yo) regularly has a dodgy stomach where he has diarrhea and doesn't eat much, plus stomach making lots of noises. He's fine in himself other than sleeps a bit more than usual. We give pasta and some probiotic for a couple days and it gets better, but then comes back again the week after. We've tried eliminating what we thinks causing it but nothings come of it. Any advice on what to do? Thanks!

Hello!  In cases like these, there are two questions to consider:  1) how to settle / prevent / reduce the symptoms, and 2) whether there is some underlying concern eg a chronic bowel or liver condition.   The first can often be acheived by feeding bland food such as pasta, although you can actually buy 'bland food in a tin' from your vets, which is nutritionally balanced for dogs and can be given on a longer-term basis.  The second is to work out the cause.

So:  it can be helpful, with your vets' help, to rule out dietary factors by controlling the diet; rule out worms with a thorough worming regieme.  To  rule out the dogs' eating of their own faeces etc. which (anecdotally) can have this sort of impact, as a starting point.
