My Rottweiler is 1 1/2 years old and has a fractured toe. We are trying to limit his activity for the last three weeks. He was not put in a cast. How long with this take to heal? He is still limping pretty bad. I just want to make sure I’m doing everything right. His X-ray is below. 23DA559C-4B22-4051-B0E3-DF64B1C81B2E

Hello!   We do not diagnose from radiographs on this site, in particular not from a single view.  Furthermore, we would always be very careful with diagnosis of rottweiler toe fractures because of the tendency to osteosarcoma in this breed. As this foot has been radiographed by a veterinary surgeon, I can't help but be a little curious as to why you have asked me about it, rather than the vet who has examined the dog, perhaps palpated that paw and presumably seen the radiographs from the appropriate number of views in order to assess it?  If you are not satisfied with their answers, then usually the next step would be to ask them to refer the case to someone with more experience than they have and at least as good knowledge of the dog.  This is usually done with the first vets' knowledge and without these precautions, a second opinion is often not worth very much.  Wishing you the best of luck and please do keep us posted as regards how your dog gets on from here.
