Scab?? Unknown what happened

I found 2 scabs on my dogs face under his ear any ideas??

Hello!  You mention two scabs but the picture appears to show a whole area of 'scabbiness' (guessing) approximately 1 inch diameter? Cause-wise I wonder if we're looking at a 'wet dermatitis,' or pyoderma, a superficial skin infection involving the leakage of exudate which then hardens around the base of the hair, and is itchy.  This can start with an itch eg caused by an allergy or something like fleas.  Itching causes scratching which damages the skin, allowing the area to become infected, hence the leakage of purulent (pussy) exudate..... Wet dermatitis is uncomfortable and can grow quite fast if the dog continues to worry at it. Other possibilities include a small wound to the skin, a consequence of a hot, wet skin fold or an allergy. You should always consider ringworm.  Because ringworm might be involved, it's a good idea not to touch the area and to wear gloves, and not to let anyone immunocompromised near the wound until you've asked your vet. So what to do?  We would advise speaking to your vet, who will triage the case for priority as regards an appointment. Sometimes such areas get bigger very quickly, especially if they itch, so it may be worth asking the vet whether you can bathe the area in cooled boiled water or do anything else to help in the meantime.
