My 2 year old German shepherd cross always looses hair on his ears and it scabs. It’ll heal for a bit and restart. He’s very itchy on and off and has bad anxiety. We’ve brought him to lots of vets and they all just deworm him and say it will be fine. He’s allergic to poultry and beef and pork so we’ve cut all that out in the last year. I was wondering if anyone else has experience with this situation? C86B3B95-7C5C-4E7D-B79D-4C92DC32B4819AFA06AD-7874-440D-B9B3-E7FF25FB40374AE3175C-53D1-4F56-B655-00391B2E6246

Hello!  I wonder what would happen if you went for an appointment specifically for that and asked for it to be scraped and tested for demodex, ringworm and mites.  These are fairly easy tests.  If the result came back negative, you could then ask whether there is anything else that might be causing this.

Why is my German Shepherd losing hair on ears? Ringworm fungus, pests like mange mites, and bacteria can all lead to infections that may ultimately cause bald spots on your dog. Along with hair loss around the ears, eyes, mouth, and elsewhere, signs your dog may have mites include oily skin, thickened skin, itching, and inflammation.

Meanwhile, please have a read abput ringworm - although perhaps not the most likley, there are steps you need to put in place to stop it from spreading if that were to be the diagnosis.

I don't know if you've found an answer yet. I made an account to tell you to look into vasculitis. My Great Dane mix has it in his ear tips which presents as chronic ear tip scabs and hair loss. It took over a year to get his diagnosis but now that he is on Pentoxifylline he is doing much better. However, he does still have flares time to time for which he does a steroid taper and sometimes antibiotics for. Hopefully your baby is doing well!
