i am trying to figure out that my dog need hiking boots or not? I tried to search on google and came up with few blogs that says you should do it. But I am looking for an expert advice. Blogs that you can take into account are given below: https://puptraveller.com/should-dogs-wear-shoes-while-hiking-find-out-now/ https://bootwisdom.com/do-dogs-need-boots-for-hiking/ Would really appreciate the response thanks

Hello!  Dogs' feet actually evolved for running around outside and for the most part they're pretty good at it.  Sure, wolves in the wild might get a seed stuck between their toes, or worse be bitten by a snake, so there are some times when you might end up very pleased that your dog has boots on - but there are other random things that might happen to your dog while out for a walk and it is hard to protect against every eventuality.   Another possible reason for doing it is that it's very hot or very cold in some parts of the world, and dogs have definitely been known to burn their feet on very hot tarmac or get frozen lumps in their pads; freezing and thawing around the hair between the pads can be extremely painful.  In some areas, people put salt out in winter which can really damage the skin of dogs' feet.  Check with your vet about other risks in your area eg that of parasites.

If you go to the blog on this site and run a search for 'boots,' some of these things might be outlined in more detail.

So:  boots can make things safer for dogs, particularly in certain specific circumstances.  However, as animals running through English woodland, my dogs never wore boots and did just fine - and unless there was something about the landscape that worried me, eg exposure to grit on snow, I wouldn't highlight boot-buying as essential.   I have seen boots harm dogs as well as help them; damp or ill-fitting boots or lack of air circulation between the toes might lead to yeast infections, for instance.

At the end of the day, whether your dogs run booted or unbooted, there are some risks to contend with and it's a good idea to check your dogs' feet.  Owners of pups should ensure that they get used to having their paws inspected and touched, which helps because so many dogs dislike it.   I personally would not go put of my way to advocate for dogs wearing footwear unless their lifestyle or some underlying condition was leaving them prone to some particular medical problem.  I hope that something in my general ramblings helps!
