My trainer recommended Fluoxetine for my Service dogs fear and anxiety of people, went to my vet to ask about it and he refused to even see me and just gave me trazodone. I tried it so far for a month now and it is NOT working. If anything she is slightly more anxious.. She gets 100 mg in the morning everyday. Am I giving it to her wrong? Or is she immune to the intended use? Ive been tracking her reacting in public and it doesn't seem better than what it was before usage. My Service dog, Toaztr is a 52 pound, unaltered Female American Labrador Retriever, prescribed Trazodone by my doctor.

Hello - I am concerned by this post.  I would have expected, for this drug to be prescribed, that a consultation has happened in order that the vet fully understands and is confident in your dogs' condition, and has explained the use of the drug, side effects to look out for and what to do in the event of a change.  There should be a data sheet outlining some of these things (usually a thin folded paper of dense text) in the tablet box also.  Trazodone is not a trivial drug - it can involve serious side effects - and it sounds as though you need a consultation.   Please do get in touch with your vet or their emergency cover and explain the situation.
