Hello,
I have a question. I have 2 dachshund/chihuahua mixes. I know that dachshunds are a breed that sometimes tend to develop vitiligo but I expected that to be with the pure breds vs the mixes. My 5 year old has the grays around her muzzle which I know are normal. But my 18 month old all of a sudden has small white patches pop up on her face and I've noticed the side of her nose has also started to lighten out of no where as well. I'm not terribly concerned but I am curious. Does this look like it would be early signs of vitiligo or maybe something else?
Thank you in advance!
Hello - Dashchunds certainly can get vitiligo but common things are common, so it may be worth considering follicular (hair base) cysts, so-called 'puppy acne,' demodex, insect bites, flea bites and so on. Are there pale patches on the edge of the nose- or is that light on the photo? Either way, its worth showing these to a vet, particularly if they persist. Please will you let us know what happens?
