Hi vets. Would highly appreciate advice please. I have a highly anxious 11 yr old poodle x maltese currently on 75mg zylkene daily, weighing 7kg. His been on it 90 dsys, its helped but not as much as i hoped. Is it ok to increase the dose to the next available capsule 225mg? Especially with the Christmas period coming and much more household activity. Thank you. 😊

Hello - I'm afraid that I am not the person whose role it is to determine whether, at what doses or for how long, any dog that is not under my care, takes Zylkene.  The company website suggests that 225mg once a day is the appropriate dose for a 10kg-15kg dog which obviously wouldn't include a 7kg dog; we therefore reccommend against changing your own dogs' dose in this way without the explicit, considered advice of your vet.    Zylkene may help an animal to feel more calm in a given situation.  However, reducing the stress-load of that situation for that animal can also be effective.   I think the most important thing that you can do is to talk it over with your vet and to only carry out dose changes with their full awareness and advice.  The product website suggests that the use of the capsules is reviewed on a monthly basis and only continued where needed.
