This red bump has appeared above my dog’s lip recently, not pimple like, and doesn’t seem to bother her one bit. Is this something to be concerned about and need to see a vet to check it out?
Hello! Im not sure what constitutes pimple-like, but demodex mites, inflammatory reactions, 'spots,' miniscule foreign bodies as well as such traumatic lesions such as fly bites or reactions to opposing teeth may be on your vets 'possibilities' list. There are also papillomata (infectious warts) and more sinister possibilites such as early tumours. The strategy and timescale for dealing with each case should be decided in combination with your vet.
Depending on what they suspect, your vet may opt to wait to see if it's an inflammatory lesion that may disappear spontaneously; alternatively they may suggest an FNA (a sort of sample) or to try medication.
