IMG_5181IMG_5180PLEASE HELP! I have a 5 month maltipoo and a few hours ago I noticed this weird spot of blood but when I went to wipe it it wouldn’t wipe off. What do you think it is? I’m afraid it might be a ringworm but he doesn’t not go out of the house. However, he did go to a groomers appointment yesterday but it was a very clean groomer.

Hello - that doesn't look typical for Ringworm although it should stay on the list of possibilities for now.  It would also be quite quick for Ringworm to appear after grooming.  I wondered whether the lesion has definitely appeared in the night, or whether it may have been hidden under the fur and the groomer simply cut the hair and made it more visible.  I also wondered whether it might be blood, but blood washes away easily with cold water (use gloves).  Could it be a contusion or bruise, ie a bleed underneath the skin?   These can happen more easily in some dogs, espexially ones that struggle to clot - its worth checking for others.  Whatever the mark is, I cannot see enough out of context and would strongly recommend a visit to your vets.

My concern is that this may have been left after attachment by a tick, in which case it would be important to have the case triaged for urgency ASAP.  Perhaps your vet could arrange this over the phone.
