Any idea what this may be on my dogs paw? I thought it was a woodtick at first, but it’s a growth of some sort. I brought him into the vet and he is scheduled to have it removed and tested tomorrow, as the vet wasn’t totally sure what it is. I know I’ll have to wait for results to come back in order to know for sure, but curious how worried I should be?IMG_0356

Hello - there were some tests done in the uk a few years ago, where vets were asked to guess how nice or nasty a lump was in the consulting room, and then the lump was sent off for biopsy.  With the exception of lipomas (which are treated differently these days), the guesses and the lab results did not correlate.  The appearance of the lump doesn't predict the outcome, however much you know; its the cell type that is useful, preferable in position in the tissue (ie a biopsy rather than FNA).  If the vet has seen enough to confirm a lump and feels that a biopsy is needed, you are conceivably in the best position you could be.
