Hi. Im so sorry for being needy and asking a tech thing first- do they have an email contact? It is probably me. Im in south america with the two complex pets. In about a half hour spam, no idea how, my 8 month old with the fractured tibia removed her entire plaster cast. No idea how.....below. XRays today showed that the oblique fracture, incurred between august 4-6 is slightly improved but blatantly a fracure far from healed. Sorry if this is dumb- i have no instinct nor experience nor access to products like crates for under £700. So just got this playpen- is this too little space to think i can have a litter box and water and food? The playpen will go over it of course, and i am feeling pessimistic overall- i can try to rent a crate, but would love your thoughts and hope this isnt some cruel idea. Im unable to restrict her activity even in my room. There are no other viable options. She will be stressed... Next question is related and only time permitting of course. A well wishes works too.   I will add it below as i tbink im making a mess format wise. Thanks for any thoughts as always so so much20240903_20513420240903_20513420240903_205156

Oops double pic - this is other half20240903_205137   Re- stress + on blood draw day+ kitten (not sure if ekg was before or after (she is particularly challenging attitude wise)- have you felt/  experienced the possibility that stress can impact certain blood results? Ours were not fab- i understand that the draw occurring 10 days after possible viral teansmission may have been a bit early re the quick test, and possible these pcrs i got back today (blood draw same day same blood ) and i trust our surgeon to decide when to retest as i understand those results are not good.  New blood tests will likely be done tomorrow to see if better or worse- i know he is anti-cast in our situation and has been great in explaining pros and cons. If comfortable sharing your personal expeirence- that i will not interpret in any personal way- am curious if you've been this particular pickle and if so how you weighed pros snd cons-

Ok sorry. That was a total fail and likely mortifying to all vets and most humans. I tried it upside down and up right and she just tried to climb thr net with weight on both legs. She now has some kinda dermititis on rhe bad keg- no collae, flowery thing. Or airplane pillow tbing will prevent ber from licking it- i am desperate to find something to contain her- and if the surgeon deems surgery is next i have zero doubt that i am unable to prevent her from removing stitches. I literally have no idea which meow is 'im tbirsty' vs let out now- i miss having dog time but this idea was not doable. Sorry . i dont think any other question matters. Sorry. Her now in the bag she can flip in seconds.  And a couple before as a 'dont try this. Sorry gain'IMG-20240903-WA009020240904_002924

Hello again - I feel your pain.  You sound understandably anxious about your cat being contained.  The size of a 'container' for an ill pet depends on its aims; in the case of a fracture, the aim is usually to prevent excessive movement, so a small cage is frequently preferred.  However, your vet may want to replace the cast, which may require a sedative - I'm not sure how far along this fracture is, but hopefully you have asked their advice. If a cat is under the impression that a cage is insecure, this will encourage them to ty to climb out, which can obviously exacerbate the problem.  Cats also pick up on your stress - if your cat feels that you are concerned, they might also be concerned.  An element of acting can therefore be helpful.  Low-lighting and low-level soothing background noise is sometimes helpful too, as if a (light, breathable) fabric screening part of the cage because some cats prefer to urine unobserved. Stress CAN affect certain blood results - blood glucose, for example, frequently spikes in stressed cats, making them appear to be diabetic at first glance.  However, the presence or absence of specific antibodies in the blood or a PCR test is usually not linked to stress, although the numbers may be if the stress is supressing the immune system enough to allow a virus to multiply.  Some vets will place sutures internally in order to discourage biting at them - it may be worth asking whether your vet is prepared to do this.  Wishing you both all the best on this next part of your journey.

I'm  sure that your vet will do their best to give good advice under the circumstances in front of them - to which I am not fully party.  Thinking of you both.

A good aid to reducing stress is sufficient pain relief - this is something to ask your vet about.
