Gizmo has been having recurring eye ulcers, as well as numerous other conditions. He has kidney disease and gut issues which causes him to bloat every so often, he was rushed in last night with that. He’s still being treated for an eye ulcer that hasn’t been healing and the eye vet said they would have done surgery had he been well enough but he isn’t. They did say there was a risk of perforation as it’s quite a deep ulcer underneath, even though the top layer has healed over.
He hasn’t been able to settle tonight and kept getting up for different reasons. I had put his eye drops in around 1.20am and at 2:20 he got up again and I noticed his eye didn’t look right. I couldn’t tell if it was just Barbara he’d had drops in and was tired or there was another issue.
The emergency vet looked at the photos online and said it looks like it could’ve perforated but it doesn’t have to be dealt with right away, it can wait until tomorrow or possibly Monday as long as he has pain killers.
I’m struggling with everything and my nerves are shot, I can’t sleep and I think I’m just looking for a second opinion if possible. I’d appreciate any input.
Thank you
