Hi Vets, I noticed this knot on the right hind leg. It feels hard. She shows no sign of pain when it is pressed on. She has been limping intermittently on runs. It looks a lot like a bump I have on my ankle that is Achilles tendinitis. Does this need a vet visit?
Hello! In my opinion, yes this does need a vet visit. It sounds as though there's a hard swelling just beneath the hock that seems likely to be causing some level of pain because pain is the main cause of limping. There is a range of possible explanations for this including but not limited to osteomyelitis, bone infection, cancer, a fracture, soft tissue injury or arthritis. After examination, your vet may well recommend further testing, or treatment. Best of luck and please let us know how you get on.
Thank you. Vet and x-rays confirm soft tissue injury. Probably from a recent fall from agility equipment. No breaks. 5 days of anti-inflammatories were prescribed.
