Hi everyone, I discovered a blue lump in the left ear of my cat this morning and am wondering whether I should be concerned? She doesn't appear to be bothered by it (no excessive scratching and she's behaving as normal) but its better to be safe than sorry. I have a scheduled appointment with the vet in a couple weeks' time but will obviously go sooner if the advice is to get it checked out. Thanks in advance. Hello!  I have lots of suggestions.  There is something called ceruminous gland hyperplasia, which is a posh way of saying (benign) overgrowth of a sweat gland, which can certainly look like this.  However, there are also cancer, polyps, cysts and perhaps less likely, heamatoma (which are usually bigger and softer blood pockets than this) and ticks (ticks can be all sorts of colours, attach at one end but are usually quite recognisable and I don't think this is one from what I can see).  When booking a phone appointment, your vets should do some kind of triage to ensure that they don't want to prioritise the problem as urgent, but ear lumps rarely are.
