Help Please 🙏 We have the sweetest cat, he is: •12+ years •IBS (it’s been a journey trying foods. Last was Dr. Elsey's cleanprotein chicken, but now he’s taking a wet food) •CKD •Diabetes (diagnosed since November and some insulin) Dec 23 he had received too much insulin - went to vet - was treated. Recovered Jan 03/22 he tried jumping up onto the couch and slipped on socks that were on the couch. Consequently he fell into the floor and broke hii I S tibia and fractured the fibula. It has been in a splint/case since At this time it was discovered he had a really Bach UTI. So he was put on an abx. He had a as rough go and was being fed via syringe He started getting better and was fairly independent this past Tuesday. Which happened to be his last abx dose. Wednesday morning…. He is very unwell and doing really poorly. He is getting subCut fluids about TID (70cc RL) Insulin Syringe feeding as much as he can, but it’s hit and miss as he vomits He declined SO quickly and So intensely. These are my thoughts -could his food be the issue ? -oxalate ? -phosphorus ? HELP please

Hello!  This sounds like an extremely delicate case to balance and I cannot recommend any treatment as I don't have enough information about the situation.  In a diabetic with other signs of illness, I would be checking the blood sugar control (in case of hypo or ketoacidosis for example) and fluid levels in the here and now as an emergency.  This would provide a good pointer as to how to take the case forward.

It sounds as though your vet's next move may be to find the cause of the vomiting and start treating accordingly - or they may be doing this already.

Diabetes can start at any age but in older animals it may sonetimes be connected to other illness, for example a pancreatic problem.  However the person to speak to about this is your sweet boy's vet, who will assess what is needed and how urgently.
