Hi, could I please get confirmation of the sex for my new kitten, the breeder is unsure whether it is male or female, it is 7 weeks old, I would really like to know!
Hello and thankyou for your question. From what I can see on this photograph, this kitten has an anus and a second hole some distance below it and therefore looks to be male (the second hole perhaps indicating the end of the penis, which points backwards in cats and it sunken into the skin around it, where as females have a slit quite close in distance to the anus, often giving the appearance of an upside-down exclamation mark). However, the photograph is not perfectly clear and given that your kitten comes from a breeder who is uncertain about the sex, I am a little concerned that either or both of the following might be true; that the breeder is inexperienced, or that there is something about the kitten - for example the coat colour or the appearance, or some feature that is not obvious from the photo, that makes them doubt their sexing. I can only see what I can see on the photo so please be aware that the only sure way of sexing a kitten is in person, ideally by your local vet practise.
Best of luck.
If your kitten is male and a tortoiseshell, please also note that male tortoiseshell cats are genetically rare, which may be worth chatting to your vet about in case of other implications.
