Hi, I was just stroking my cat and noticed this scabbing on her face. I'm really worrying about it. She is her usual self, purring, happy, eating well and doesn't mind me touching it. She's about 20 months old, an indoor cat and there's been no changes to diet recently. Any advice would be appreciated. I will contact the vet in the morning but I'm very stressed as I have just noticed it.
Oh dear, that does look a bit sore! Yes, I definitely think get that checked by your vet. it looks like a small scabbed patch; this is typically due to an injury or abrasion. An accidental injury in this location is possible, but I would wonder if she's been rubbing at it when you're not watching and made it worse. Given the area, also very possible that there's an underlying cause such as a flea or parasite bite (cats with fleas often scratch this exact part of their head), or ear problems (if she was trying to scratch her ear, this area often gets traumatised). If she's not bothering it now, you're probably best off not putting anything on it unless the vet specifically advises you to. Your vet will be able to assess it and check the possible causes, so good luck with her, hope it all goes well!
