Recently got a 7 week kitten. She's adjusting well to our home, eats heart to tail canned cat food enthusiastically and drinks a little water. However she isn't pooping even when being stimulated. It's getting over 24 hours but still no pooping.

Is it because she may have had a change of diet? Because I'm not sure what her previous owners fed her except that it was wet food.

Hello!   It sounds as though your kitten is bright and well in herself.   However, I'm unclear how long you've had her and whether you have seen her poo before.    There is a condition in which kittens are born without an anus so if you don't know that she can physically poo, have a quick look and if there is any doubt at all, consider taking her to a vets. However, most bright, lively fully grown 7 week olds are unlikely to have atresia ani

It sounds as though your kitten seems bright and well in herself.  However, I don't know how long you've had her or her real age, so you might want to be aware of atresia ani, a condition in which cats cannot poo because their anus doesn't form.   If this may be a possibility please see your vets as an emergency.  However, it is not uncommon for healthy young kittens to sometimes struggle to poo without their Mums, and also quite common for the cats not to want to poo in an unfamiliar / stressful space (as gently as you do it, leaving your Mum at 7 weeks old is both unfamiliar and stressful).

There may be unseen worms present that are making a difference.   There is a good article in the blog that you might find helpful called something to the effect of 'Why hasn't my 8 week old kitten pooed / been to the toilet', so that's worth searching for.   In particular, if there is bulging around your cats bottom or they seem to be squatting and pushing or dull in themselves (kittens of this age should have several extremely playful times a day), then please bear in mind that it may be an emergency.   Alternatively, it may simply be that your kitten hasn't deafecated yet in the new environment and that nothing is wrong at all.  This can be quite a common complaint.  You can speak to your vet for support if you are unsure; their goal is not to miss any serious cases.
