Lump on nose

Hi! I would love some feedback on if my dog's issue seems to need immediate attention or if we can wait a bit. We have a vet appointment scheduled but it's a little less than two weeks away. The issue: My dog has been chattering his jaw once or twice a day for about a week. We thought it was related to an issue with food crumbs building up on his lip so we started wiping them away with a warm cloth. The chattering has improved a bit since this change. Today, I noticed a very hard (feels like bone and doesn't move) lump on one side of his nose. It's only on the one side and can be felt on the gum line as well. No visible changes to the skin or gums. Any thoughts? If he needs to be seen quickly, we can call for a sick visit in the morning but I try not to use those same day appointments if we don't really need one. Thanks for all you do!!!!

Hello - my main thought is that you should call the vets surgery to have them triage this situation.  Triage is the act of asking questions to establish how urgent a situation is.  If the vets don't offer phone triage, then it is perfectly reasonable to use up an emergency appointment.  Concerns in this case may include fungal disease or tumours that can, for example, lead to sudden haemorrhage.  or fractures, dental disease or tumours which can be extremely painful.  Wishing you the best of luck going forward and please do let us know how you get on.

Thank you so much for your feedback! We took him for an emergency appointment today. They did a full workup, x-rays, and biopsies. No firm answers yet while we await lab results. His temp was okay, lungs and heart both sounded great, and no fluid in the sinuses, even though there is a congested breathing sound from the obstruction. They found a swollen lymph node under his jaw that is about the size of a golfball and biopsied it, along with the nose lump. X-ray looked fine but wasn't a detailed dental x-ray. While we await lab results, he's on an anti-inflammatory and an antibiotic, in the event it is an infection. Hoping it's a simple infection, somehow without other symptoms.
