I have a 4 day old silkie chick, hatched from an incubator. No issues with any of the incubation period and hatched on its own in the time frame and came out strong and alert.   We noticed it not being able to get one of its legs under it very well and was struggling to get up. We originally thought it had spradlle leg but then thought it could be slipped tendon based of online research.   I took the chick to a vet for an assessment and what we thought might have ended in euthanasia. The vet said it's got a congenital leg deformity and it's hock was sore and the bone looked close to purtruding because it was trying to move around on rough flooring in the incubator. The vet said that keeping the chick upright so it can't further hurt the wound and keeping it coverd and in isolation that it would get better and also if we continued the with the braces and exercise/stretchs it could heal and hopefully be able to get around instead of euthenisia without giving him a chance. The vet also said that the chick didn't have a slipped tendon or anything out of place. 20260901_200618 The chick has shown massive improvements with eating and drinking and can also get it's legs under itself and stand up without support in the last two days. However I noticed when changing its wound dressing that the bone or joint I'm pretty sure that's what it is, is poking out the skin. I also was pretty sure it was when the vet had a look. Does this mean that it's just injured the area bad enough that the skins split or does that only happen or confirm it's most likely slipped tendon and the vet maybe misdiagnosis. I have started him on avi-vital and the chick doesn't seem to be in pain or in a bad way. Just a bit more tired and stressed when moved around. He's currently gently wrapped and in the cardboard box method to support him but I haven't taped his feet down. Just washed the wound with saline and gently wrapped with gauze and I didn't want to attempt to splint again without vet advice. Is this something that it could recover from if it's just a wound and has the right treatment or is this something more serious and should be done in a way that's best for the chick if suffering. Thank you
