Hello - well, you vet has had a much closer look at this that I have and thinks that it might be an osteosarcoma, so I have no reason to disbeleive them. Osteosarcoma are often associated with adult dogs but I have certainly heard of them occuring in youngsters of this age. There may be other differentials (possible diagnoses), too - and an x-ray may be insufficient to tell the difference. A good question for your vet would be, what else could this be, at this stage, and how can you differentiate (tell the difference) between those possibilities and an osteosarcoma? Also, if a biopsy is needed, how soon does it need to be done? I'm sorry that this has come up for you - it's a stressful possibility to be facing for everyone concerned. Wishing you all the best in this concerning case.
