Hi vets! Thank you so very much in advance. I am looking for a more natural option for my dog’s toothpaste and was wondering if the ingredients in any of these toothpastes are safe for dogs (he’s a 5 year old chihuahua mix)! If not, can you tell me which ingredients need to be avoided?
thank you so much for your time!!
Hello! I'm afraid that I'm not prepared to support this product as, so far as I am aware, I have never seen any statistics relating to its safety. Furthermore, although natural, a lot of the ingredients are not things that wolves or wild dogs would naturally encounter in their lifetime, which shows that the word 'natural' always needs to be defined and given context (all flower bulbs are natural, after all, and some are also toxic). The way to get direct feedback on the toxic profile of any of these ingredients would be to go through the poisons information service to which your vet will have access (UK) or ask if there is a similar service if you are based elsewhere. They may be prepared to go down the list for you (they will need doses) in order that any toxins are appropriately identified.
