It is constantly scabby and has dried blood on it although I’ve never seen it bleed. Could this be a wart or something more sinister. I am booked into see a vet but not until mid October (Covid lockdown here in a Australia) thanks in advance.

Hello!  At risk of sounding facile, this could indeed be a wart or something more sinister! - so you are doing exactly the right thing in taking your dog to the vet. It's frustrating that you have to wait until October for a vet at the moment;  this problem is a national one and has escalated due to the pandemic.   Meanwhile, there are a lot of useful articles answering this question in our blog.  You can search for the term 'lump' for example - I think I wrote one, 4 years or so ago, but there are multiple others.   As you read through the articles, you will come to understand why we refuse to speculate on the nature of lumps from the outside and some of the ways that vets have of finding out reliably what the true nature of a lump is. This lump, for example, looks like a wart, but the point is that I can't reliably identify it for you, so what it looks like is no help at all. Best of luck!
