My dog has hyperkeratosis on his nose. Should I try to treat with otc products or is there a prescription that needs to be ordered?

Hello!   I think that depends what you're trying to achieve.  I would always advise showing it to your vet at first, because hyperkeratosis is a symptom rather than a disease in itself.  It therefore makes sense to try to work out the underlying cause of the symptom in your particular patient's case;  there may be chance of prevention, rather than simply treating the symptom.  Depending on the presentation, they may even want to swab or biopsy.  If it is concluded that you should just treat the symptom, your vet should then try to advise the most appropriate choice of treatment for your pet.

Thank you so much. I will make a vet appointment to figure out the cause.
