My dog was just diagnosed with an aggressive spindle cell sarcoma. I have been told that it is impossible to fully remove due to its involvement with the rectum and spine. It has grown in the past week since biopsy so I understand that it is fast growing but I am trying to get an idea of timeline. We will not be doing radiation or chemo and we will also not be debunking the tumor as we have been told it will grow back anyway with what they will have to leave. They struggled to get her to stop bleeding after her biopsy so bleeding out during surgery is also a risk. Anyway, can anyone give me an idea of time? I will post page one of the results along with two pictures of the tumorFB_IMG_164954426498620220409_16481320220406_175017

Hello and I'm sorry to hear about your dogs' diagnosis.   It is indeed difficult to set a time on tumour progression; lumps can grow in any direction, affecting any organ or structure.  The way that it affects other structures determines the effect than any particular lump will have on the patient.  Some, for example, might block the anus causing mess or pain; others may damage the anal glands.   Other lumps can alter the functioning of the spinal nerves, affecting a dogs' gait and others can lead to spinal, disc or back damage or pain.  Depending on how - and how quickly - a lump grows, will determine the effect that it has on the patient.  Eventually a time may be reached when the pain or lack of function outweighs the quality of an animal's life.  Drugs can help to keep things comfortable for as long as possible. I'm sorry that I cannot be more specific; your vet will know more than me about how they expect this particular lump moving forwards. Wishing you all the best with your dog, whether that is measured in days, weeks or months.
